FOUR PILLARS
Cork, Ireland : 1979
Performance over the duration of one working day at the Triskel Arts Centre.
29 November 1979
‘The action consisted of manipulating the candles, some forming an inverted crown; lighting them. The candlelights in the dark room permitted partial and always incomplete perception of the roof, walls and floor. MacLennan “walked a figure of eight”, that stretched the full length and width of the gallery, incorporating four supporting pillars.’
Text from ‘Alastair MacLennan: Is No’, ed. Stephen Snoddy, 1988.
