HIDDEN LINE

Dartington, England : 1983

Performance/installation as part of the first Dartington Festival of Performance Art, organised by Ryder’s Gallery.

1983

MacLennan performed/installed this work in a restaurant, utilising a new cooker – still packaged for delivery – eggs, and flour.

‘The action consisted of ‘miming’ cooking processes and the patterning of the wooden floor in a set of flour ‘v’ shapes. MacLennan recollects the work heightened his perception of the window as a boundary, and of other boundaries between ‘inside’ and ‘outside’.’

Text from ‘Alastair MacLennan: Is No’, ed. Stephen Snoddy, 1988.
