HUMAN SHEEP

Belfast, Northern Ireland : 1982

Installation in the foyer of the Art and Design Centre, York Street.

October 1982

This work, installed in the foyer of the Art and Design Centre, is centred around the figure of a human skeleton with a sheep’s skull. The skeletal figure sits upright on an office chair – legs casually crossed – presiding over the wall display of newspapers interspersed with dead fish. The newspapers alternate between copies of publications with opposing political alignments – the Irish Times (Irish nationalism) and the News Letter (British unionism).
